Why a female model?
I briefly mentioned it in my about page, but basically I've always liked female characters more often than male characters. I identify with them quite a bit. At one point I did try to design a male character but couldn't come up with anything. Nothing caught my attention. So it goes.
What inspired Viola's design?
On terms of Viola's design some of the characters that inspired her initially were Alicia Melchiott (Valkyria Chronicles), Saki Morimi (Eden of the East), Holo (Spice and Wolf), and Estelle Bright (Trails in the Sky). The common thread being that they all have brown/orange hair. Saki in particular inspired me to go with a casual outfit. I find casual outfits to be very cute but I'm weird like that. On terms of eye color, initially I just wanted them to be brown... then I wanted one to be amber (the right eye) instead. The left eye becoming magenta was a happy accident. After that I chose to write her as being in her mid 20s then swapped over to her being 31 instead.
What are your favorite games?
Most people will figure it out just by talking to me honestly, but the first ones off the top of my head are CrossCode, Sonic Unleashed, Rabi-Ribi, Final Fantasy IX, and Bravely Default.
Why mostly indie games?
Personally I just think games have gotten a bit bloated. Open worlds typically don't appeal to me, and games tend to like mixing too many mechanics to the point of doing none of them particularly well. Indies on average have more focus, that and it's fun to talk to some developers. As I got older I also just liked shorter experiences more. That said, I still play some grindy games like my love for RPGs and others, but you know... I'm okay with just spending 10~20 bucks for a quick platformer and occasionally doing fun runs.
Why are you quiet sometimes?
I know no one will particularly ask this but I might as well explain it. I've always just been a quiet person while occasionally being goofy. Oddly enough I can be more energetic in person than online. A lot of my humor is more emotive and using my entire body but I also don't like showing too much of myself online if that makes sense. Grew up during the time where the general mentality of online engagement was "Don't say/show too much" and that just kinda stuck with me. It could also just be my variety of autism though so who knows.
Why don't you take suggestions?
Put simply, I got burned too many times. Everyone likes what they like, I'm no exception. I ended up buying games from people suggesting them to me, a few being particularly long, and I'll be real some of them made me consider dropping video games. After going back to what I enjoy I had fun again. Put two and two together and badabing I now no longer take suggestions. For those curious the games that tipped me over the edge were
